Friendly letter to your friend describing a street accident you witnessed
My dear Name,
I often read in the newspapers of street accidents. So far I had not been an eye-witness to any such accident. But yesterday I chanced to see such an accident with my eyes. I took place very near our house. I was then in a shop on Raja Subodh Mullick Road. A state Bus was running towards Garia. The driver overtook a rickshaw. But he faced a handcart. He tried to avoid a collision with the handcart and swerved to the left and run a shop. It was not strongly built. It was a totally demolished. In this accident ten people were injured. The police came very soon. The ambulance was informed. The ambulance car came. Three persons were admitted to hospital and the rest were given first aid on the spot.
The bus driver was arrested. The accident occurred in a highly congested area. The road is not wide. There shops on both sides. There is no pavement on either side. So passers-by have to use road. In the circumstances the diver ought to drive their cars very carefully. On no account they should try to overtake any vehicle. In this particular case the driver was solely responsible for the accident. I was on the right side of the road. If the car had swerved to the right, it might have run into the shop in which I was sitting. So I thank my star that it did not. But I feel for the innocent persons who had been injured and admitted to hospital. May they come round soon?
