The following are some of the ways in which the legislature exercises its control over the executive.
- Every member of the legislature has the right to put questions and supplementary questions to any minister and the minister has to give reply,
- Any member of the legislature can move a motion of adjournment on any urgent matter. The legislature can move an amendment to a finance bill through cut motion.
- In serious matters, the legislature may pass a vote of censure or no confidence against the executive or cabinet and the latter has to resign. The cabinet goes out of office and a new cabinet takes its place.
