Main factors which led to the growth of Imperialism :
- Industrial Revolution caused imperialism in the 19th century. As a result of this revolution the European industrialists became very rich. They founded their colonies in Asia and Africa for investment of their surplus to earn greater profit.
- The European industrialists needed new markets to dispose their finished goods and to have raw material at low rates.
- The workers at cheap and nominal rates were only available in these colonies.
- For the sake of national glory, the imperial powers of Europe established their colonies in Asia and Africa. A nation, which had a greater number of colonies, was considered a great power in the world order.
