Good and impressive buildings, costly equipment and furniture alone do not make a good college. Its goodness lies in its teachers. I will have highly qualified teachers on my staff. They will be given decent salaries. So they will work heart and soul for the welfare of students.
College office will also be made efficient. Clerks will be made to work honestly. No extra work would be taken from them. they will not be allowed to be harsh and discourteous to the students. The college peons also will work only during college hours. No one will be allowed to take private work from them.
In my college, care will also be taken of the character of students. Education will not mean only instructing students. Bookish knowledge alone will not be stuffed into their heads. They will be taught to be sincere and honest in their work and cooperate with others. Efforts will be made to develop them mentally, morally, physically and emotionally. All round development of their personality will be the chief aim of education in my college.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Games and sports will be made compulsory. Arrangement will be made for all the students to take part in them. Sports will be given their due importance. Stress will be laid on Indian games and sports like Kabaddi, Wrestling etc.
College Unions, Scout Clubs, Debating societies, etc., will be organized through elections. Students will elect the office bearers from among themselves. They will, thus, got training in democracy. In fact, the democratic spirit will prevail in the college. But they will not be allowed to misuse their freedom. They will also be taught the value of discipline. They will be required to observe all rules and regulations in the class-room, as well as in the play-ground. Through weekly lectures, they will be warned against involvement in politics, for it comes in the way of their studies.
Our students often suffer from serious diseases. I will make proper arrangements for their regular medical examination. Their health will be the main concern of the college. I will also put in my best efforts to provide them with free mid-day meals.
Some other minor reforms will also be made. To improve the general knowledge of the students, radio and T.V. programmes will be relayed regularly. Interesting news of the day will be written everyday at the main black-board. Hostels will also be run efficiently. Library has an important place in a college. A large amount of money will be spent on the library. Thus, no aspect of college life will be left untouched.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
I will not work in haste to bring about these reforms. They will be introduced gradually but steadily. I shall work with the co-operation of all. I will administer my college not only by authority but also by love, sympathy and affection. Such is the college of my dreams. Such is my ideal of an educational institution.
