I am a student Most of my time is spent in studies. All the same I have time to devote myself to pursuits in which I am interested the most. These side pursuits, or hobbies refresh me.
One such pursuit is gardening. I have a small piece of land in front of my house. I have converted it into a little garden. There are five flower-beds ‘and all types of plants. I spend some of my leisure hours in this garden. I water the plants. I weed out wild plants. I plant new ones. My little garden looks splendid in the spring season. The dahlias, the roses, the jasmines and others add to the beauty of other flowers in full bloom’ I have a separate piece of land in my garden for vegetables and fruit trees.
This hobby keeps me active and fit. During the examination days this little garden is a place where a few number of my friends assemble for study. They sit in the shade of the big plants and shrubs. I, too, have a special quiet corner where I sit for long hours and study.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Another hobby in which I am sometimes engaged in is photography. It is a very expensive hobby and therefore it is months sometimes when I do not take my photographs. I have a camera of my own and a little dark room where I develop the photographs. I have by now a nice collection of photographs — each one a reminder of the places I have visited. Some of the photographs were taken last year when I visited Kashmir in the company of my friends.
I have an album in which I keep the photographs of the members of my family. Some of them are the snaps of my brother, taken when he was least prepared for it. They are all an interesting study of how he passes his time at home. These things take a lot of my time and I cannot spend more time on them. But sometimes, I am free from school, particularly after the examinations. During these days I spend some of my time in reading light fiction—books of adventures and stories. These are my hobbies. How busy and carefree they keep me !
