It was a holiday. I was still in bed when there was a knock at the door. I got up and peeped out. To my surprise I found that some of my friends from Chandigarh had come. They were on an educational tour and had come to meet me.

After exchanging our greetings. I asked them about their programme. I was informed that they were going to Okhla and had come to take me with them. I got the table laid for breakfast. Everyone had a hearty meal. Soon we got ready. We caught the bus and were soon at Okhla. The place was humming with activity. Scores of holiday-makers were already there. We too spread our carpet and began to enjoy the scene of the rushing waters of the Jamuna.
In the meantime a party of some college students arrived. They took off their clothes and jumped into the river. They swam and went about playing in water for some time. They splashed water on one another. Then all of a sudden we heard a cry. We looked up, and lo! we saw that it was the cry of one of the boys. He was drowning.

This was too much for me to bear. Not bothering about my safely I jumped into the water. I soon swam to the place where I had seen the boy. The boy had in the meantime been carried far away by the strong current. At last I overtook the boy and caught him by the neck. The boy clung to me. I made for the bank as best as I could. It was really very difficult I did not lose heart and God helped me. At last I reached the bank thoroughly exhausted. I deposited the boy and then sank on the ground.
I lay in that state for some time. Other boys were busy in rendering first-aid to the boy whom I had saved. He was given artificial respiration. The boy recovered his senses in about half-an-hour.
I was now myself again. My friends surrounded me. They praised me for my brave deed. The college boys also thanked me. They said I had risked my life to save their friend. They invited me to their college and offered me a handsome reward 1 refused to accept anything, saying that it was my duty. I still remember this incident. I wonder myself how I could perform such a brave deed with such a weak health that I have. I have no doubt that God had inspired me to do it.
