Mr. Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. USA on August 4, 1961. His mother was an American of Predominately English descent, whereas his father hailed from Nyanza Province of Kenya. Mr. Obama’s early schooling took place in local schools in Jakarta. He, however, returned to Honolulu in 1971 and got education up to his high school there. He is proud of the multicultural heritage of Hawaii where a climate of mutual respect prevails. According to him, this climate of mutual respect has shaped his personality and become an integral part of his world view.
After high school, Mr, Obama moved to Los Angeles in 1979 and joined Occidental College. Two years later in 1981, he moved to Columbia University, where he majored in Political Science with specialization in International Relations and obtained a B.A in 1983. In late 1988, he entered Harvard Law School and by the end of the first year become an editor of the Harvard Law Review and in his second year, president of the journal. He graduated with a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Harvard in 1991. It was as the president of the Harvard Law Review that he hogged the limelight for the first time because he was the fist black to hold the responsibility.
Mr Obama was elected to US Senator in the US history. CQ Weekly called his a “loyal Democrat”, while the National Journal ranked him as the most liberal” Senator in 2007. In 2008, Congress.org ranked him as the eleventh most powerful Senator. On November 16, 2008, he resigned from his post, as on February 10, 2007, he had already announced his candidacy for President of USA. In November 2008, he won the presidential ballot with 59 % of the popular vote and became the first African-American to be elected President.

Mt. Obama assumed office on January 2009 and within a short span of time took some important decisions concerning domestic as well as foreign policy. One September 24, 2009, he became the first sitting US president to preside over a meeting of the UN security Council. Within fifteen days, on October 9, 2009, he became the third US President in office to receive the Nobel Prize. he got it for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.
