The term biology is made of two words. One is called bios in Greek which means life and the other logos mean study. So biology is the science of living things. Biology makes to understand ourselves better and the nature in the best possible way. It explains intricate relationship among the organisms in the ecosystem.

Studies-reveal that about 50,000 children die everyday of various preventable diseases like diarrhoea and majority of them can be prevented if we commit ourselves to environmental science.
Environmental sanity means the state of being sane/wise and hygienic, the practising of cleanliness as way of maintaining good health. Environmental sanitation is that branch of public health which controls all the factors in the physical environment.

There are a large number of diseases which are communicable and non-communicable.
The various non-communicable diseases are hypertension, stroke, cancer, diabetes, obesity and blindness. The various communicable diseases are Small-pox, Chicken pox, Measles, Rubella, Mumps, Influenza, Diphtheria, acute respiratory infections and Tuberculosis.
There are many intestinal infectious diseases such as viral hepatitis, Cholera. Typhoid, Food Poisoning, Amoebiasis, Hookworm and dracunculiasis use of contaminated food, water and environmental changes bring forth such diseases.
One can protect himself from such diseases because health is man’s priority. It is the result of living in accordance with natural laws pertaining to the body, mind and environment. These laws relate to fresh air, sunlight, diet, exercise, rest and relaxation, sleep, cleanliness, good habits, right attitudes of mind and above all, the life style. The pure treatments are gifts of environment.
