Dear Ravi,
It is long since I heard from you. I hope you are enjoying the best of your health. Kindly remember your friend by immediately responding to my letters.
I heard about your promotion from a friend of mine, who lives in Delhi in the same locality in which you live, but whom you, by the way, do not know. I congratulate you upon your having secured promotion so early.
You will be glad to know that both Suresh and I have passed the B. A. Examination in the first division. Suresh secured distinction marks in two subjects, while I earned distinction only in one subject. Raman and Bahadur have failed as expected. Raman intends to leave the college and join his father’s business. Bahadur will try once more. I propose to join M. A. in Political Science as it is supposed to be the most paying subject for administrative services examinations.

How are getting on with your job at Delhi ? We hope you often remember us. It must be very hot at Delhi as it is very hot here at Agra. I propose to go to a hill station sometime during this summer. If you wish, you may write to me. You may also accompany me.
Rest is all fine. With best wishes.
Yours ever,

Dear Ranjan,
Received your letter and noted its contents. I am extremely sorry that I couldn’t write to you earlier. In fact, my touring duties kept me so busy that I found little time to remember replying to your letters. This is the complaint which I have received from mother also. Please rest assured you will have no cause for complaint in future I am very much thankful to you for your kind congratulations upon my promotion. Kindly let me know the address of the friend who lives in my locality and from whom you came to know about my promotion. I shall be glad to meet him.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
I am extremely delighted to hear of your excellent performance at the B. A. Examination. Please accept my congratulations for the same. I am in perfect agreement with your choice of offering Political Science in M.A. Actually this is the subject which a young man of today must study. Among other things, it tells us the most important fact of life and that is this that all human beings irrespective of their creed, colour, nationality, language or sex have a moral dignity by virtue of which they are entitled to enjoy equal rights. Political philosophy teaches us the most precious lesson of humanity.
I am happy to learn of the success of Suresh. As he was really a brilliant scholar, his achieving distinction in two subjects out of the three came to me not as a surprise. The failure of Raman and Bahadur was a foregone conclusion, for they were never sincere in their studies.
I am taking immense pleasure in my new job, although the new and the higher status has brought greater duties and responsibilities. What a pleasure it is to discharge one’s duties and responsibilities faithfully and sincerely !
It is very hot here now-a-days. But the new assignments will not relieve me to take a trip to any hill station. I am very sorry to disappoint you in this particular matter. I shall be very happy if you come to visit Delhi and then we shall have a fine time.
Rest is O. K. With best wishes.
Yours truly,
