The excitement, however, reaches its highest pitch on the actual day of the .election. The whole city is up very early. There is heard the hooting of the horns and the shouting of slogans. Loudspeakers rent the air. Motor cars, Scooters and other vehicles are seen hurrying to and fro, carrying the voters to the piling booths.

There are sometimes quarrels amongst the followers of different candidates and they come to blows. The administration, however, is very careful. There is always a batch of constables at every polling booth to see that the voting is peaceful. Sometimes, there are cases of impersonation and the guilty ones are taken into custody.
