This article describes the differences between Vested Rights and Contingent Rights.
Vested Rights
- It is already a perfect right.
- The vested right is heritable.
- A vested right is not defeated by the death of the transferee before he obtains possession. The property passes to his heirs.
- A vested right is attachable under sec. 60 of C.P.C., because its certainty.
- The transferee owns the right absolutely.
Contingent Rights

A contingent right becomes perfect, only a certain condition is fulfilled mentioned in the deed.

The contingent right is defeated by the death of the transferee before he obtains possession.
